How to install sound deadener on doors *Pics*

Nice tutorial. You could always cover up the large holes with something a bit more solid, like 1/4" MDF or aluminum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'm gonna let you in on a secret. If you use acrylic ( plexi ) to cover the larger holes. You can blast it with a heat gun until it softens up. Then you can mold for a perfect fit to the door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

K I'm a noob to this and reading up on it. How would I go about attatching the acrylic to the frame to cover the hole and where would be the best place to find some?

bump. where can acrylic (plexiglass?), be found?

Why would you worry about paint that you're about to cover up with sound deadner?
Because the deadener doesn't stick to the metal. It sticks to the paint, which sticks to the metal. Paint doesn't stick, deadener doesn't stick.

Home Depot, Lowes, any hardware store. Use Lexan.

And the eDead was in the middle of the pack for heat and cold, but it won the adhesion test on the next page.

K I decided to have some guys I know do it for me. They said that covering the bigger holes doesn't really matter. How much of a difference does covering the gaps make?

Huge difference. It not only blocks road noise much more than if the holes were open, but it also turns your door into a enclosure of sorts, helps midbass tremendously.

Ok thank you! How thick of acrylic should I get? What would be the best way to attach it to the door?
