How do I make my old hard drive compatible with my new Dell PC.

My old HD has a 40 pin setup etc.

The new Dell comes with new shyt (tiny outputs)...ugh!

Eugenics suggested an ATA/100 controller, will this work? How does it work?

thanks in advance

Yeah, you need the ATA 100 controller if you want to use your old drive, your PC uses SATA which is a different (and higher performing) HD spec.

The ATA controller mounts into one of the PCI slots.

With SATA drives going lower in price everyday it may not be smart to buy an ATA controller card just to use a slower hard drive.
