Okay, thanks. When I get my new amp I'll try my sub in a sealed box and compare the two. Then I'll see which one I like better.
I emailed mike at SS regarding that .7 alignment, and he didn't recommend it for the RLp-15. So I just stuck with his recommendations for a 2.0 net sealed for my RL-p15, and the sub gets really low.try to get a system q of about .7 or a bit lower, someone on here can design a box to do that.
true, but with a ported box you can control where you have the "extra output" which is nice if you have a car that has a huge cabin gain around 55 hz then you can tune low to conter that or if your car has a huge cabin gain around 25 hz you can tune higher. You can do similar things with a sealed but your options are either a bigger box or a smaller box. I usually play a sub in a sealed box with a Qtc of around .7 and listen to several songs and then I build a ported box and tune it depending on how the sealed reacted in my car.a large sealed should get as low, or lower than a low tuned ported, just not as loud
