Okay I am in a dilemma I have a 2010 avalanche I can't remove the seat or add a box in the rear.

I have a great front stage but the sub stage is just week.

My only option was a pre built sealed box I am not happy with how it sounds I am running a sundown sd2-10 due to clearance

box info 0.96 Total cu.ft and 5 7/16" Mounting Depth

Height 5 5/8" x Width 44 1/8" x Top Depth 16 1/2" x Bottom Depth 16 1/2"

I know that this sub could sound better ported I have no clue how to port a pre built box I have always built boxes with slotted ports having room but I have no way to fit anything else

do I have any options such as adding like a areo port if so where do I even began I would love to wind up somewhere around 33 hz

here is a link to the box I have if this helps

I was in your situation once... with a 00 ext cab silverado... then i removed the backseat and now its a box (the backrest is still there and you can sit on it, it's just not soft obviously).

if you want the response i think i know you want, you're going to have to do more than add a port to that box. honestly i dont think you even have enough volume for a properly ported box with that sub, but maybe some other members can chime in and i could be wrong..

ya that what I thought I cant give up the seat my kids are always in the truck

I think I am just going to try a 2in aero port I might not like it but it is worth a shot I don't like what I have now

you could try modelling that enclosure in winISD or theres some online port calculators available. it'd give you a good idea of what your optimum port size would be for that sub in that volume, and would be better than just throwing a port in and seeing what happens

We have went to the junk yard, bought a whole rear seat. strip the upholstery and padding. Build a down firing ported enclosure to replace seat bottom frame. Add OEM padding and upholstery to it. just make it strong. I can usually get enough ^ft to run a 12 or 15 that way ...
