Hello,

I purchased the following:

2 - Orion C2 124 12 inch subwoofers

MTX Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure (BS212S)

Alpine MRD-M501 Subwoofer amp (550 watts x 1 @ 2 ohmes)(225 watts x 1 @ 4 ohmes).

The box has two individual enclosed 1 cubc foot cavitys. Each having its own terminal for speaker wire connection. According to the Orions website, these Orion's have dual voice coils with a nominal impedance of 2.8 ohms. If I run each subs voice coil in parelell, each sub would see a 4.6 ohm load correct? Then if I run these to my amplifier I would get a 2.3 ohm load, correct?

Thanks for your help,

Paul

Looks like you got the wrong VC config. Since you have two DVC4 subs you can wire in parallel to 1ohm or series to 4ohm....

You need like ~500W at 1ohm or 4ohm if you plan to run both subs. And you can't really run one off that amp either cuz thats too much for it at 2ohm.

Nope.

A DVC 4 ohm sub with the coils wired in series yields a nominal impedence of 8 Ohms

Then if I run these to my amplifier parelell, I would get a 2 ohm load, correct?

See above. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Here are your options for a pair of DVC 4 Ohm drivers:

OR

Thanks

So the 2 - Orion C2 124 12 inch subwoofers that I now have, which I thought were dual 2 ohm voice coils, are (according to the Orions website) actually 2.8 ohm's.

Depending on how I configure, my amp would see either a .7 ohm load or a 2.8 ohm load correct?
