how often do you change your EQ settings?

What my crappy 2 Band on my CDA 9886? Flat almost all the time. Occasionally I'll cut the treble around 10 or 12.5K a touch if the high notes of the blues guitar are too bright (tweets are on the sails) or if Im listening to rap and want more apparent bass and less brightness in vocals, synthsized symbols, or snapping-type sounds. That's about it. Ive never found any use in cutting 15 or 17.5 other than getting some airiness out of the symbols so I don't know why they don't offer lower treble bands. Pretty much the only other thing I'd do if I had more options is a 1 or 2 db boost somewhere between 3 and 5000 HZ but I would have to pay 150$ for that choice.

With my new Hertz HSK 165s there seems to be very few areas left now that need boosting but a few that need cutting because of the tweeter placement. Their only apparent shortcoming, at least according to my untrained ears, is that the crossover between the mid and tweet seems to come right smack in the middle of the area where the 'attack' on my string instruments starts to become more evident whereas my old comps crossed over higher in an area where any dips are less obvious. But overall even if I could fix this I'd do it and never change it. For my more refined refined musical selections the same settings should always work, and EQ just doesn't seem to matter as much with rap. And it doesn't seem like it'd need much to sound perfect to my ears, probably just a couple small cuts and a couple tiny boosts. I wish they would have offered so much as just a built in 7 band in this HU. Thinking of doing imprint just to unlock the 5 and 7 band eqs and get the time alignment set up.

exactly, it makes me wonder if some systems benefit from boosting EQ and and using loudness etc. It sounds to me that my diamond hex's sound better with loudness on for some reason. And yeah, i never change eq on rap, only on other genres of music.
