How noticeable is a 3db gain?

3 db gain is alot of difference,usually they say either double ur power to get it or double ur cone area,but in the world of spl comp's 3db is a major increase

I could tell a big difference between 150db and 153db's

its really noticible to the ear,lets say ur hitting a 147,then u move up to 150,ur ears and vehicle,and subs will tell a good difference

they normally say every 3dB higher is double the loudness.. Something like that..

FYI 10dB=perceived doubling of sound pressure to the human ear

the lower you are now, the more the gain will be percieved at the ears.
