How much to save before moving out?

Ok, I feel like i'm 21 again. Story is I moved out with some hoe but had to move back in w/ the p's 3 years later when the economy sank and I lost my j.o.b. At the time I had uber amounts of money and wasn't worried, 2.5 years later my lazy, non working, partying *** wasted it all.. I'm now working and saving pretty much 85% of each paycheck.

So my question is what would YOU consider a safe amount in the bank prior to moving out for good?

Rent here for a decent 1br can be had for 650-700 a month on the lower end. 750+ are the most common. 2br's are 850-1000+. It's a low crime suburban area. I'm not moving to the ghetto to save 50-100 bucks a month.

6mo - 1yr of bills worth if you want to be POSITIVE you won't have to move back in.. including emergency funds, car bills, accidents, medical, etc.. so in your case 10k+ should have you worry free.. as long as you can accept getting a shit job to pay some bills until you find a new job if you get fired or layed off..

and living at home with the parents you should be able to rack up 10k FAST..

I have a ***** job now so it's not as quick as i'd hoped. I plan to have 15+ by summer of next year if nothing catastrphic happens.

No car payments and only 2 bills = 75 per month.

holy CRAP those prices are ridiculous. Move to buffalo or the surrounding suburbs, i bet you could find a 2 bdr in a decent area for $500 plus utilities easy. I used to live by myself in a 1000 sqr foot 3 bdr for $400 plus utitilies, and i had an additional 1000 sqr of storage space AND a basement with washer dryer hookup. Granted that was just about the best deal ever, but.....

Lols... you think those are expensive... I'm in California. Those are about the lowest rates you could find for a tiny 1 br or 2 br in an area that isn't entirely ******.

Every area is diff. I would've moved out already if rent was only 500 for even a small 1br apt. It's hard for me to justify spending 7-800 a month for a 1br. My ex and I paid about 715 a month and split it which made it not all that bad.. I might just have to find a roomate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
