How much power can these subwoofers safely handle?

Ahh..didn't see the 'generation' or whatever you'd call it.

But as @Bettr n&\#39; Revrse said - the power you'll want to give it is box dependant.

Don't over-analyze the power issue. Give each sub at least 300watts and enjoy the good sound. If your amplifier can do over 500watts RMS and you're worried about blowing subs, set your gains with DMM. The reason people don't like pre-fab ported boxes is that the ported box should be built to the specs of a given subwoofer. I don't see a problem with the prefab sealed boxes, because many have relatively good quality and finish and all you need to get right is sealed box volume, approximately.

I just want to get the most output out of them as possible without blowing them like last time. Once I get the second one in the mail today, I will hook everything up and set the gains for 650 rms each just to be safe.

Okay all finished with the install! Thanks for the help everyone, really appreciate it. I decided to tune the amp to put out about 1300 watts to the pair and they sound great! First time using a ported enclosure and even though it is a "Prefab" I am more than satisfied.

I am contemplating pushing them with even more power, maybe 1400-1500 watts to the pair?

With only a 110 amp alt? That's gotta be dragging your voltage down... I'd be running them at 2 ohm till you can at least do the Big 3 and throw an extra battery on it.

that kind of power increase won't be noticeable to the ear. Your best upgrades to do in hopes of louder are better electrical and definitely a custom box. The box will make WAAAY more difference than adding 50-100w extra to each sub.

Well I'm running an extra Xstatic Batcap 800 in my hatch and I paid $100 for it since a friend of mine owns a local shop. From what I see, they run for about $150 online and I'd say they're worth it, given I dont have much experience with batteries. This one works well for me though. My stock alt is 100a and I still haven't done the "Big 3", and at one time I was running darn close to, if not, 2000wrms with stock front battery, zero gauge wiring, and the Batcap in the hatch and the lowest voltage drop I got was about 11.6v at idle and full tilt on super low notes. For daily driving, my voltage stayed perfectly fine.
