How much power can these subwoofers safely handle?

I have two 12 inch Alpine Type R's SWR1242d, so the DVC 4 ohm version.

Specs are 500 rms/1500 peak

Just wondering how much power I can give them on a daily basis

I have a 1700 watt Soundstream Lil' Wonder monoblock amp to work with and the Type R's are in a ported enclosure.

Stock electrical, either 110 or 130 amp alternator.

If it's a prefeb sealed then it's not so bad. But they will take your amp just fine. Make sure you set your gains properly though. What HU do you have?
I've been looking into my own ported box, but the prefab should suffice until I get my paycheck, plus I need to find a simple box plan that will be perfect for two 12 inch Type R's.

The head unit is a JVC KD-g340 I believe?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain the difference with "clean power" which allows a woofer to handle more heat than the "dirty" power which somehow is bad?

IMO manufacturers rate speakers for a reason. 500W seems to be what Alpine considers "you'll never kill it with this" power and 1500 as "you'd better **** well know what you're doing and not do it long" power.
