How much does are generation take responsibility for ourselves?

Granted I'm 28, but sometimes I think our generation is too spoiled and takes too much for granted on everything we do.

Many of my friends always make excuses for what they do, want to blame the world for our problems, and take no accoutabilty for our actions.

They claim that the WW2 age people are the 'Real Generation' of Americans, and I'm thinking they're right.

What do you think? Are we all narcissist?

I think it has a lot to do with the "whatever" attitude that most of us have. If we call in sick to work, its whatever. Miss class, whatever. Lie to a friend, whatever. Cheat on a girlfriend, whatever. The list goes on. It's not so much that we don't take accountability or make excuses, its mostly that we act as if we don't care even if we do.

I'm 20 years old. The society isnt necessarily narcissistic but its based on the "Me, myself, and I" theory. The WWII era generation were more into helping the United States and everyone was with the president on every decision he made. But now society is based on how much money you have and who you know. Basically our mindset is "Take care of yourself first, then worry about others" back then it was vice-versa.

You nailed it. It used to be a person was their word. Now it seems like that no longer exists.

Everybody thinks the world owes them.

Everybody *****es with no solution or ideas.

I'm glad it's not just me.

I think people today are too weak. They are weak physically and weak mentally. The WW2 generation is totally different. And, when I was young I sent a lot of time with my grandparents and was fortunate enough to get their morals, drive, and determination.

I am very worried where our generation is going to take this country.

You know I have an excellent job, but when it really gets down to it. I spend 2080hours/yr. working for green paper.

While that's important, because we all need to live, I often wonder if there's something more important than me striving to get a better car, a better WaveRunner, a better car stereo.

I know as I get older, these things will become less important.

Who knows, I'm only speculating.

Me, too. I was lucky enough to know my grandpa, and my great grandpa and they were exellent men who I could only hope to be as good as.

All I wonder about is what will it be like when my kid is my age. I cannot even begin to think what this world will be like then. And I highly doubt we will be in a better place, then again we can dream. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

this 13 year old kid from my church came up to me in the mall a couple weeks ago, and he asked me a question that surprised the hell out of me. "Do you want some stuff?" I was like what kind of stuff. He says "I've got some fire." I was like WHOA okay... and then he asks me if i wanted some shrooms. AND HE GOES TO MY CHURCH. Its getting worse and worse as the years go by. I didnt even know what that shit was when i was 15, and hes selling it at 13.

The "me myself and I" isnt a bad thing to follow...............if our ****ing government would worry about the country THEY GOVERN, the world would be a better place. Oh, and of course......don't bother getting me in trouble just for making some money that you dont get a cut on.
