How many watts do you think an 800 watt American Legacy amp pushes? I have one and I am about to buy 2 10" kicker comps. Do you think my amp will power it good enough?

I know i need a new amp but for now, this will have to do. I need new speakers in my car first....any thoughts?

Well, first I think the 800w rating on that amp is peak and not continious power. To find the RMS or continious power rating check the amp manual. If you don't have it get in touch with the amp manufacturer via the net. My best guess however is probably 150-200w rms if that. Hope that helps.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

& how much of that will be good, clean undistorted power?????? **** those nasty chaepo amps!!!

well whatever the power is, it powers those 2 10" kicker comps pretty good. I get quite a bit of bass out of them. I just installed the subs today and I am very pleased with it. I will get a new amp eventually but I need new components first. Thanks for all the help by the way, I really appreciate it.

Update: I found the manual and checked to see exactly how many watts it pushes. It is 2 X 75W @ 2 ohms and 2 X 50W @ 4 ohms. The max output is 2 X 400W and 1 X 800W. My question now is how do I make it so the amp actually uses more power? Can I even do that? I mean, it says that the max output is 2 X 400 so does that mean that it only reaches 400 when the bass hits hard or what? I get kind of confused when it comes to this stuff. If anybody can help me out again, that would be awesome. Thanks

u cant really get more power from an amp unless u bridge it. there is no trick for getting the max power. it all has to do with e- and electricity. electricity is not a constant so one minute you can get x amount of power going to ur amp and the next minute youll get 12times x amount of power going into your amp. it also depends on the music you play and frequency of the sound.

This is true but, 4ohm mono is the same thing as 2ohm stereo. So you wouldn't get anymore power out of it. 150w x 1 at 4ohm is the same thing as 75w x 2 at 2ohm . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
