How many watts

I am putting a 12" type R in a 2.5 box tuned to 32hz. The amp I am getting is # RMS RMS Power (4 ohms): 533 watts x 1 chan

RMS Power (2 ohms): 919 watts x 1 chan

RMS Power (1 ohm): 1016 watts x 1 chan

Should I get the dual 2ohm subwoofer or dual 4 ohm.

either one would be fine. are you going to want to add another sub down the road? if so then i would get the D4 so that when you do get the other sub you can wire the subs to 1ohm.

What brand is the amp? Kenwood....I had a X811D and they arent truly 1 ohm stable in the summer here.

That setup will blow. That's wayyyy to big of a box with a too low of tuning for a 12" type R. Again, i've posted this a million times. My friends box that was 2.25 cubes tuned to 32hz sucked ***, didn't get loud at all. His 2 cubic foot box tuned to 36hz sounded much much louder and I honestly thing it sounded better. He also ran an 801d to his sub.

Yea its the 2006 kenwood class D not sure the model number. I am not positive I am gettin this amp I was also looking into the Alpine mrd-???? 600rms @2ohm. How does the kenwood infrasonic filter work? I have never heard of this and I am guessing it is like a subsonic filter.

Yeah...

Those kenwood amps are not really 1 ohm stable... Unless stable means the dumb amp drawing more current than the dumbass manufacturers fused it for, and the amp going into protection every three seconds, if so, yeah, it's 1 ohm stable, otherwise....

Run it at 2 ohms.

And yes, the Infrasonic filter is a Subsonic filter.

Mine usually runs fine at 2 ohms, but on songs with lots of low bass the amp will go into protection if I turn it up too much.. I had wondered whether it would really be 1 ohm stable or not.

just power it at 2 ohms then with the dual 4 if you're not sure about 1 ohm stability, not too much of a diff in power

In a direct swap on my friends 2 12" Type R's @ 1ohm ("1016RMS") a JL 500/1 was louder and sounded better. But this could also be because of some voltage drop and the JL having reguated power supply that can go down to 11.5v and keep power up.
