My alternator is a 105 amp delco cs144 I believe. I have a 4 channe alpinel to power the front two speakers for now.. 150w rms per channel, both speakers are taking that at 4ohm. Then I have a memphis pr 1000 at just under 1 ohm so maybe 1200 watts rms to power 3 subs. How much more power can I run off of this alternator? I also have a kinetik 220 batt. how much would I gain (in a realistic perspective) from upgrading my alternator? I have large prefab boxes but I am still hitting 142 db, but I have no clue if I want to go to a sql or spl setup since sealed boxes play rock better which is what I mainly listen to now but my ported boxes play lows nicely.. Im not looking for louder but I am looking into mtx 9500s. Would two of those be louder than 142 running 600rms each in a custom box? my local shop is considering a 3 12 sealed or ported design with 3 exile, treo, or excelon subs which are all around 500rms but I have no idea if they would sound better than my pioneer champion 400rms subs. Is a sealed box the only way to go to get accuracy with subs without getting into a/b amps and top of the line everything else. I have ixos cables and thats good enough, and I am by no means trying to make my truck ghetto like most people with subwoofers do. anywho, in a chevy what is a reputable brand for ho alts? I heard irragi had some issues, powermaster is ok, ohio gen. is ok? anybody with a chevy or gmc and a ho alternator is who I am looking to hear from, mainly those with the 144 or dual. nothing custom of course, just bolt on dual alt setups?
