How many layers?

Depends on how big your kicks are really. I try not to have any flex at all. Most the time it ends up two - four layers of 3 oz. mat. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hmm, didn't even know they made 3 oz chop mat

but you'll be fine with 3 layers of 2 oz chop mat, assuming you lay it down nice and clean with little to no air pockets

depends on the fleecing material too. trunk liner doesnt need as much mat as tshirt material. on thick liners I only use 1.5oz of chopped mat, on tshirt material I use 6oz of mat.

It's 3oz woven roving actually. I won an auction on ebay for 5 25yd rolls. Got it , and it turned out to be 5 125yd rolls 6" wide. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You didn't get charged extra, either? I've always wondered, is there a strength difference between using glass cloth and glass matt?
No, I thought I was getting raped on Shipping. It was like $49.95 for shipping. I was cussing a blue streak. Then when this behemoth box showed up at the doorstep. I was quite pleased.

Depends on weight, and type . Cloth of the same weight is usually stronger with the close, tight weave pattern. Cloth conforms a lot tighter to curves and weird shapes. But usually I use heavier mat , and a lighter cloth is used for a finish layer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for mat/cloth go on eBay and search for fan8, he has amazing deals

it cost me only $15 for a butt-load of biaxal cloth mat

he has a huge assortment of types, weights and amounts and its all sooo cheap
