how many amperes for my future setup?

Right now I have an autotek sx-777 (1080 watt rms)

I have that hooked to 6 of my alpine mids

and I have channel 7 hooked up to my type x (only 420 watt rms tho, so needless to say time to upgrade)

I was planning on getting the autotek mm1400.1d (1000 rms by 2 ohm)

for this alone, what would you guys recommend for alt/batt

should I get two batteries? And should I run a 0 or 2 gauge wire to the trunk

i MAY in the future upgrade to a second 10 inch type X with another mm1400.1d

What should I run?

I figured a 135-200A alt for my current setup would be fine with a redtop in the back and reg batt in front

if i get the second amp, i figure a 160-200A alt would be fine and keeping the same batt setup would be fine too

am I right?

I may also get a 3 or 5 farad cap

sounds like a nice setup. Depending on your vehicle's stock power demands, sounds like a 180amp-er should be fine. That should give you a good 120 amps to play with even at night with your lights and gizmos running. Just be sure to check the idle vs. cruise output so make sure you're getting the power you need all around.

I've purchased alternators from http://www.rushpowersystems.com and http://www.4alterstart.com

both businesses have excellent quality products and customer service.

go****, 200+ for 135 amps?

Supposedly there's a dude in town who could tune my current one to get to 135 amps for like 30 bucks :p

couldn't I also put a smaller pulley on the alt?

the problem with re-wound alternators is that the internal electronics aren't designed to put out that much power. This significantly decreases the life of the alternator.

putting a smaller pulley on the alternator will help a little. That with the Big 3 might be able to squeeze out another 10-20 amps, but certainly not enough for a respectable amplifier.

That's a pretty decent price, it's really hard to get HO for import cars. They come with such small alts stock. I paid $225 for 140Amps (my stock was 80 and i got it made a local shop.) Would've cost $450 for 175amps.
