How low is too low for component passive x-over?

If you're running some Germaniums, I'd say yeah you should try em lower :p I hated the sound of my sub playing up to 100hz...if your fronts can handle the output then you will probably like it much better with your crossover point @ 80hz rather than 100. I ran my Germaniums @ 50hz/24db for about a week between subwoofers while being sparing with the volume nob and they sounded great.

I'm running DLS UR36i 3-way set. Pushing 180w per channel via 4050xxk. They really like power, but not too much. Smaller voice coil allows for efficiency.

Currently 60Hz @ 18dB and it plays with authroity, especially with some nine inch nails tracks. I like it loud but not concert loud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Rockin. The Germaniums midbass didn't 'come into it's own' on my admittedly shitty install under i started throwing >120w a side at it. The 4150xxk was the second biggest difference i've ever heard in my car by simply swapping out a single piece of hardware - right behind the Germaniums in the first place //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Mine are at 40hz with a 12db slope, I'd go lower but they can't take it. Lower is better always in my book, beware without proper deadening and installation you will have a natural roll off that is much faster than the slope of your crossover anyway.

Before i sold my SI i could run my setup full range on the midbass drivers with a 12db slope no prob even at high volumes. The midbass drivers where sealed though. I use the same midbass drivers with a 2" mid/tweet in a home setup sealed at .35 cubic feet on 230x2rms and run them full range just before clipping with no prob either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I think i have a vid of the midbass drivers IB run full range off 90w rms. Ill try looking for it and will post it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
