How low is too low for component passive x-over?

I plan on tuning my front stage next week when my kick pods are done. It consist of a DLS UR36i set running passive. Tweet/mids will be mounted on-axis, mid-bass flush in the door, apereodic enclosure. As of right now I have it set at 80Hz @ 18dB slope via x889 HU, amp is set to full mode. The mid-bass freq. range is 50-5kHz w/ a Fs of 70.5 Hz, here are the details specs: http://www.dls.se/en/car/prod.html?produkt=en_429

Temporarily I plan on running soley on front stage, meaning no substage. So I'm considering in going as low as around 60Hz or 70Hz with a 12dB or 18dB or 24dB slope are my choices.. Just would like to hear some thoughts. TIA.

depends on how loud you want to listen them too. you can cross them lower if you want to listen to them at a moderate level but if you're feeding them a lot of power, then cross em higher.

My midbass drivers are crossed at 50hz...with a 24db slope.

Its really up to what they can take. IB in doors and they may not like it as low as in a set of sealed kick pannels. Try 60hz and if that doesnt work out, try 80hz with a lower slope.

Okay, they are in an apereodic enclosure. I'm gonna work my way down until they start to distort or the panels start to resonate. I figure 60Hz w/ 24dB is a good starting point.

thats basically your only choice. no one except someone with experience with that particular setup can tell you whats the best range. the best way is to use those ears and turn the crossover down until you hear them bottoming out or distorting.

Very much depends. If I turn my substage off, I can cross mine as low as 40hz with a 24db slope (via the amp) and it will play down to the 30hz range (lower actually) without distortion.

That however is a low volumes. If im going to be turning it up considerably louder, I wouldnt go much below 60hz/24db. Even then, you migh get distortion (depending on how loud you turn it up) It'll be trial and error until you set it to whats right for you.

Even then if you switch from one type of music to the other, it will chance what its limits are. I can play rock/metal type music considerably longer, louder and at a lower hz setting then id attempt to play any rap song. Its just something you'll probably have to mess with depending on what type of music you'll be playing.

If you have no sub, run them full range... otherwise you will have no bass. Just go easy with your volume control.... it's easy to do... you don't drive all over town with your gas pedal stomped to the floor.

lol 300 seems a tad much. I used to run just 50w and it was plenty loud for me, and this is 3-way set mind you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

bah nonsense. My 4150xxk (birthsheet 4x180w @ 2 ohms, rated 4x160w@2ohm or 2x320w@4ohm) can't even handle the Germaniums bridged y0 for realz, about an hour and a half of solid playing at reasonably high volumes and that sucker is hot enough to fry an egg on. It's gone into protect twice in the 4 months or so i've had it now due to heat. Ima bolt a bigass fan on it. My lights dim without any sub in my car at all. I really like the Germaniums. I think the Power Line CS 275's on 2x300-400w would be pure ****ing glory... THEY NEED MORE POWWWAAAAARRR

One of these days i'm going to deaden my doors.

Cackle.
