How is this for a budget system?

On a serious note, that setup sounds pretty decent. If you're induging in that type of setup, why not go component with some stronger midbass and textile tweeters on the A pillar? I'm not a fan of aluminum or titanium tweets because they're too bright, but some people like them.
Well, the PG RSD 5cs is a component system. Do you mean individually purchasing the components or expanding upon the RSD? Either way, if you can give me a good suggestion I'll certainly consider it.

Also, not sure what IB means.

As for the 6x9s, I am reading that the rears are also used for highs so a two way may be better than a 6x9 sub. How drastic would the difference be between a 2 way 6x9 speaker and a 6x9 sub as far as bass goes?

After seeing your post came right up after mine, I was going to say something nice along the same lines your way...LOL!
PV will know his tweets without a doubt. Me, I just turn down the treble to deal with that trouble:D

Rick

P.S. I won't be pulling your whiskers any more PV:)

In my 1991 Cadillac Brougham, the Pioneer REVs (2-ways) offer the bass foundation while the Boston Acoustics 4x6 plates provide 99% of the rest of the music. Like you are considering, I have a "compromise system" and that's my experience with how the sounds work out in terms of F/R perception. Obviously I can skew that perception with the fader but I find things work best when the fronts carry the highs/mids and the rears carry the bass load.

If you go with a 6x9 that focuses on bass you will get the max amount of bass. You really won't miss the accompanying tweet that much IMO.

My fault, nope, I didn't realize that was a comp setup. You're good to go there.
And no, if you want bass, just get the TB 6x9 subs. A two way speaker isn't designed to reproduce the same octaves as the subwoofer is. Just stick with what you had before and you should do fine.

well, I want what will sound best and I don't presume to know what that is. If the bass of 2 way 6x9s (quick searches here seem to identify infinity kappa and the Rev series as the best bass for 6x9s). If it will sound better all around with that I will do it. Although Brougham seems to say juss focus on bass, so unless the prevailing opinion ends up being otherwise I'll probably be doing that.

I believe you mentioned you didn't want to do any cutting/modifications with the fronts. I think the Tang's don't use your standard 6x9 hole, you might need to do some cutting for them to fit, just a FYI.

I am gonna have to look into that, and start looking into alternatives for the Tang Bands if necessary.

Another random question - Is there any CD or something that can test various frequencys to measure how low a system can get? Or something to help measure clarity at various frequencys? I just thought that would be cool after upgrading to really be able to measure and remove any subjectivity from comparision.

So what would you guys think of this alternative.

Profile AP1040 (4x80W)

2 PG RSD5cs (80W each) up front

2 Pioneer REV TS-D901P 6" X 9" in the back (also 80W).

The Rev's go down to 25 hz and review very well. Debating between them and Infinity Kappa which review well, and supposedly have excellent highs.

I would go with the tang bands for subs even using a 6" in the 6x9 hole with an adapter plate.

PG RSD looks good for up front.

check classifieds for amp you can do better that profile probably. even for 90$

best of luck tou you and your install
