I was browsing around for subwoofer enclosures because I dont have the time to make a box, and I want to get my system soon, because living without bass in my car is so painstakingly well...painful. lol. Heres the link to the box:

http://cgi.ebay.com/12-CUSTOM-PORTED-MDF-SUB-ENCLOSURE-BOX-2-0FT-3-32Hz_W0QQitemZ170043617307QQihZ007QQcategoryZ50568QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It is apparently 2.0 cu.ft. at 32 hertz.

I cant tell if its like, 'L' design? Im sure it is most likely. But thats what I need to know, how that box is for a Type-R 12" subwoofer powered with a Hifonics BXi1206D amplifier at 2 ohms or 4..? I dont know.

Im sorry for the 'noobness' and 'help me' factor, but thats what this site is all about, helping enthusiasts and bassheads. :)

I also found this box on eBay too, but does not list the hertz or any specific details, but its at 2.28 cu.ft., so what do you think? Im guessing most of everyone here will say the first one is better..

(PS: Please dont tell me to just make one or have someone custom make one for me for $100 because I dont know how or I just cant do that. Sorry)

I know its prefab, but hows it soooo better to build my own if I have no experience, the tools, etc. Plus, its professionally built to the box specs (2.0-2.5 cu.ft. at 30-35 hertz) So..I dont see whys that wrong?

The first one actually looks fairly well built. You don't see many prefabs that lists the tuning frequency, or that are made with 3/4" MDF, hell most are particle board... If there is no chance of making your own, the first enclosure looks decent.

Whats that supposed to mean, lol?

So far, one 'thumbs up' signal.

As for making my own, I really could, but I dont have the time for it right now and I just need some 'quick bass' without worries of building a box now when I dont even have the proper tools needed.

Nothing. I would charge a little more than that first box.

But, in all honesty. That first box isnt your normal "prefab" box. I was approached by Joe of Dimension Audio to build his boxes. Things just didnt work out.

He had a local guy doing it, which I assume is how is doing it now. They are all built by this guy. So its not like they are just thrown together. Im sure they are a pretty decent box.

But, if your interested, give me a shout. My price wouldnt be to much more than that.

That first enclosure looks pretty decent for a pre-fab. 1.25 front baffle is pretty nice as well as the lower tuning.

If you don't have somebody here build you one, I would go with that pre-fab. Since you don't have the tools or experience, that will be cheaper and better for you.

The air is channeled from the chamber down a left side slot port and out of the enclosure. This creates MASSIVE amounts of bass -- in fact, 350% more than the conventional "sealed" box, and 180% more than a conventional "bandpass" enclosure.
Nice

Double 3/4" would be 1 1/2" baffle, not 1 1/4" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Haha, Im guessing someone reviewed it like that and hes way off? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

So far, alot of people say the first box is really good for a prefab. I may just do that. Over $100 is awful pricey though, how much does anyone think I can get this box made myself total up to? I think I saw Lowes sell a huge sheet of mdf for like $22, but thats all I know of, I dont know anything else.

But my main question, is 2.0 cu.ft. at 35 hertz good? Like, will my sub hit nice, hard, deep and smooth?

wow, I'm actually impressed, for a "prefab" it really doesn't get much better than that, and for the price you really can't go wrong there, a type r should be decent in that too.

So the box should be decent (not looking for SPL competition, just loud/good enough for 1-2 cars outside to hear me or something like at lights. I want to turn heads. I did alot with my pathetic 2 12" Rockford P1's, so I think Type-R this will be great. I will continue to browse/ask around for prices and types and within 3-4 days, I shall make a decision.

Any other opinions on that box in the first link?
