How does this work?

I was wanting to know something. I had an 80AMP fuse in my power run to my amp. I popped it when I wired the amp down to 1 ohm. The amp only has 2 30AMP fuses. How can it draw more than 80amps, but not pop the 2 30 amp fuses that are in the amp?

But theres what gets me. I put a higher rated fuse (100AMP) and all it did was melt my plastic casing on my fuseblock. I had it down to 1 ohm and it didn't pop them fuses.

Your amp isn't 1ohm stable.
Want to bet on that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif Just because they don't state anything below 4 ohms, doesn't necesarilly mean that it's NOT stable at a lowe impedenace.

Doesn't mean it is either....... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

Holy shit! Are you serious? Wow... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

I only went with a bigger fuse 'cause the 80amp was just the smallest one to start with, with 2 guage wiring it's ok to step up to 100amp fuses.

Here's a shocker ~

You've got an amplifier designed to pull no more than X amperage at full tilt.

Oddly you're popping fuses that are rated at the higher value of Y amperage.

(this shouldn't ever occur and consequently happens to be indicative of there being a problem somewhere by the way...)

So your determination is that you should put a higher amperage fuse in the power chain?

mmmK

Just take out the fuse altogether. No more fuse popping problem.

Go for what you know you, man! LOL!!

Make sure when all is said and done, that you report back to the forums and tell everybody how much Fosgate sucks because you keep getting bad amps. I mean, why would you have so many problems trying to run a bridged amp at 1 ohms. It's not reasonable.

The only reason why I put a higher amperage fuse in is because I went BACK DOWN to a 4 ohm load. It was fine for the time that the fuse was in there. I was pulling no more than 60amps. It was a temp solution to put in the 100 amp, now it's back down to an 80 amp. I could even use a 60amp, but I'm still with an 80amp, is that pushing it too far also?
