How do you use used cell phones?

I have a cell phone I do not like, and I have to use it untill 2007 untill I can do the cingular upgrade. I can get a new phone from them, but I have to buy at regular prices, not plan prices. So I was wondering how people use used cell phones? Do they buy them, then have to go get new service contracts, or do they somehow get them on the service contract they are currently on? Like is it just a matter of removing the SIM card from my phone and putting it in a new phone? Thanks

T-Mobile? Is that different from the GSP phones or whatever it is. I am pretty sure my old phone was T-Mobile but this one is GS.. whatever it is lol.

You use cingular which uses GSM phones. You can go on ebay and buy a GSM phone. Slide your SIM card into the new phone, and it should work. If you want to use a t-mobile phone, you will have to unlock it. I'd say just get a used cingular phone and be good to go.

I do not need T-Mobile, I just want a flip phone again. I am constantly pulling my phone out and its surfing the net, or has dialed someone. I have got a few outragous phone bills due to this, and the locking function just sucks as well, as you have to unlock it each time to do other things. So A cingular Flip style GSM phone is what I am looking for.

You can not just go buy any gsm phone and put a sim card in it and have it work. You will need a gsm phone that is cingular. You can buy a sprint or a at&t phone etc but then you will need to have it unlocked and the cost of that is about $20 and you have to ship it out for a few days. So if you go on ebay to buy a phone, you will really need to read the details of it. I have gone through many phones with cingular due to reception in my area. The best one I have found is the razor for my area that is not a highly populated city that does not have alot of towers. I have had the v551 a few nokia's and the v400. But by choice I would take the razor the sony ericson one I had but it was not a flip or the v551.

Hope this helps you out, if you have any questions feel free to pm me if I can help you any in the search online if you find one your looking for.
