How do you guys secure your boxes to your vehicles

I need to mount mine in my trunk so its secure and doesnt slide around/vibrate. I do alot of drifting in my car so this is gonna be a big issue with this big *** box sliding around back there. I was thinking of drilling through the box and trunk pan and securing it toward the back with 3/8 thick bolts and nuts with caulk in the middle. Only problem is i can only secure it on the bottom towards the front of the box due to my gas tank being under the rear of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif What would you guys do in this situation? Also im gonna staple some packing foam strips to the bottom of the box to help vibration, thoughts on that?

get a bigger box...it make ur subs sound better and it won't slide cuz its big....who uses there trunk any ways???..my box is chained to my chasis up top so no one can steal it and my trunk is disabled so it does'nt open so no one can open the trunk and remove the subs and take the box...all my subs have security screws so even if u did try to steal them you have to cut out the sub you can't unscrew it

really? I usually just throw my boxes in back and hope to hell I dont ever roll my SUV

Well, the guys did say he drifts a lot, so sliding would be an issue.

Rolling the SUV...well now...hope would then be the method //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

With my last setup, the box fit perfectly between two factory cargo tiedown loops that were bolted to the foor of the truck. So I installed U-bolts onto my box where it matched up with those metal tie-down loops. The U-bolts were bolted from the inside of the box, so you couldn't unbolt them without removing the subs, which are installed using security screws. Once I had the box in, I used a padlock on each side to lock the U-bolts to the tie-downs. It was more for security than anything.

Now I have changed things around a bit. I made a false floor with MDF that is bolted down using the factory holes where those tie-downs used to be. Then, I installed the box without the subs, and screwed the box down to the false floor and to an amp rack type setup on the back side of the box. I did this all from the inside, and then reinstalled the subs with security screws. It will be a huge pain in the *** to remove, but that's kind of the point.

ive got the perfect airspace for my subs so i think ill keep it that way. I dont know much about building boxes but bigger box means louder = black theory, right? Plus, the box i have is already tight as hell in there. I have maybe 3-4 inches of play on each side. And the false floor idea is a no no, i cant really sacrifice much more space or the box wont clear the lid. Im working with about 2-4 inches of clearance now

Heavy duty L brackets then. Usually when I build boxes I make them perfect width and height and change my depth. Only down fall to L brackets are you will have holes.

True, but my trunk is also way lumpy and stuff from manufacturer crap, so either way thats not an option. I think ill go with my original idea with 2 bolts through the bottom, and maybe fasten a ratchet strap to 2 u bolts, and remove the back seat and secure the latch there. Wont deter a thief much, but thats what the bolts are for. I dont think anyone can get in my car anyway. One night i found half of a thick *** screwdriver broken off in my door, they scratched my paint up a little bit but thats it. My cars solid steel baby //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif But on a more serious note i think ill stick with my idea, unless someone comes up with something more creative. I like the l bracket idea too. Actually have my amp rack secured with those //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
