How do I install the Alpine TR-7 bypass

Connect the GREEN wire to the Alpine’s remote wire

Connect the BLUE wire to the Alpine’s foot brake input wire

Connect the WHITE wire to the Alpine’s parkingbrake input wire

Connect the RED wire to vehicle’s accessory 12v (headunit's red wire).

Black is ground; connect to your headunit's ground.

thank you. now before i go about putting this thing in, let me make sure i understand this correctly. i should set the toggle switch on the tr7 to "ON", right? and then i'll never have to mess with this again, right?

The green wire on the pac should be connected to the h/u's amplifier turn on: usually blue or blue/white... can't remember.

I don't know if you need to toggle it or not. I've been using the same one for nearly 3 years and I've only touched it in one install. The alpine h/u wire harnesses have been the same since I've owned the pac so I've always reused the harnesses when I get a new h/u and just sell the new harness with the headunit I'm getting rid off.

but you don't know which setting is the correct one? on or off?

also, how did you secure the 505 unit in your car? there is no place on the sides of the unit where screws will fit in.

and maybe i'm blind, but i don't see a usb connection or s-video connection anywhere on the unit. i really don't get this at all.

hey steveklin i just ordered mine yesterday and i have the w505 also just got it in today .. i printed out the intstructions on pac's website very very detailed and it answers ur questions.. i love their website and on there site its the tr-7

I'm sure it's the on position. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I screwed the unit into my dash kit. There are plenty of screw holes on the unit and the unit comes with the screws.

usb cable came with it. it's part of the ipod video cable.

Cash, the instructions I posted on the tr7 came from their manual. I copied them over here. I take it you got yours in?

yeh i was talking about the very bottom instructions that are in bold .. that actually tells u it all .. and i have my 505 in and all my jl speakers and amps and subs and the optima battery and all jl wires including speaker wire rca's battery terminals and i love it now waiting on the 550 hd tuner the imprint and the tr-7 and ill be done . with it then on july 5th will be installing track vision with two tv's in headrest and 23" tv in lid of toolbox with two more jl 6.5 inch speakers for tailgating.

Programing for Alpine bypass

1. Connect the black wire to chassis ground and connect the red wire to 12v accessory.

2. Slide the TR-7 switch to the ON position and turn the ignition on.

3. ‘Pulse’ the brown wire 2 times and wait 3 seconds. The LED will flash 2 times for confirmation. The LED will rapidly flash for 3 seconds.

4. Slide the switch to the OFF position.

5. Connect the green wire to the Alpine’s blue/wht wire, the blue wire to the Alpine’s footbrake input and the white wire to the Alpine’s handbrake input.

6. The TR-7 will automatically bypass the video safety when the radio is turned on.

Steve, don't do this.

Cash, the instructions you posted are for how to program it. The tr7 comes PRE-PROGRAMMED for Alpine units so that they're ready out of the box to hook up to Alpine h/u's.

The only reason you should have to reprogram it is if the previous owner used it for some other reason than to power an alpine h/u. Like I said, I bought mine 3 years ago, it came preprogrammed as they all do, it took 5 minutes to hook it up and have never had to reprogram it since.

Nice. Good luck getting everything ready to go.

bikin good catch im retarted .. here it is on what to do ..

#2: This will automatically bypass Alpine’s video procedure. After programming (detailed

programming on page 3), connect the GREEN wire to the Alpine’s remote wire, the

BLUE wire to the Alpine’s foot brake input wire, the WHITE wire to the Alpine’s parking

brake input wire. In this configuration, relays are not needed. Do not connect any other

sources to the WHITE or BLUE wires of the TR-7. Connect the RED wire to vehicle’s

accessory 12v. Note: This feature is factory set. Keep switch to off position and

wire according to above. No programming is neccessary unless changed.

WARNING! It is dangerous (and illegal in most states) for the driver to watch the TV/Video

monitor while driving the vehicle. The driver may be distracted from looking ahead and an

accident could occur. Install the TR-7 only in RV and Marine applications where there is no

parking/hand brake to interface to. Do not install the TR-7 where the driver may be able to

view the monitor when driving.
