How big is yours?

Does the size of the box really have to be X amount of cubic feet? I want to put a pair of 10's in my wifes car. It's a spectra hatchback. There are two nubs sticking out of the wheel wells about 9.5 inches high. I can go 16 inches high. The base would come out about 10 inches but the top would be more like 3 inches. The nubs take out 3 inches of width also. Does this sound like it would be good enough air space for a grocery gitter? Would a pair of 12's be too much to ask? Stuff it with pillow fiber? Using the whole 37 inches in width it should make it just over 1 cubic foot. With it 34 inches it shows just under a cubic foot not including the thickness of the mdf or the basket. Would I be better off using fiberglass to maximize the space I have to work with? Do I just need to shut up and keep doing more research and use more math? I don't have any of the speakers or anything yet. This is a project for several months away. This is also going to be my first ever install for anything. I've never even installed a HU. I used to hang around with a guy who built systems for a living so I understand some things as I've held wood while it was getting screwed into place.

Another question you may can answer for me. Will my stock speakers be ok for a few months if I go ahead and get a head unit?

System will be:

HU - At least 1 rca in and 2 rca out. MP3 / cd / text

Amp - Sub only Doesn't have to be much but I'd like a volume control

2 10" subs probably kickers

2 6.5's for doors probably kickers

2 I don't' know what those are like a 4 by 5 or 5 by 7 I might just replace them with a 4 and tweet

2 tweets in the doors or a pillars

Should I use a cap? Should I run my other speakers off an amp or just use the HU?

Yes you want to try and get in the range that the manuf. recommends for square footage. Use this site for your calculations.

since space is limited go sealed. infinity perfect 10.1 only require .60 ft3 for each sub this includes sub displacement.

basicaly shop for a sub that performs well in a small sealed enclosure.

or you might be able to have 1 12 ported without taking up to much room.
