How bad is mechanical noise ?

Just got my system hooked up and had amp set with a dd1 there has been only like 3 songs out of my 550 songs that have made them go past excursion where they start making braaap noise and as soon as I've heard that it got turned down immediately and so I went to amp and turned down the gain ever so slightly and brought up my subsonic from 23 hz to 26 and have yet to find the song that over exerts em...what damage if any did I do to them I mean we're talking 3 songs and they overdid themselves for about 2 seconds before I could turn down the volume....does it burn the coil or just throw the soft parts past limits?

FYI no bass boost on amp or head unit and turned down my 80hz and below down negative 1 as a precaution and it still slamssss.

No noises anymore sound good..hopefully they soften up still stiff and have put about 6 hours on 'em at pretty good volume maybe this 12 hour roadtrip will help Monday
