how bad is .5 ohm

i was wondering how bad it is on the car and the amp to run at a .5 ohm load. i have 2 12" solo baric L7's (2ohm duel voice coils) and a hifonics 1600 brutus. it sounds good at 2 ohm load but its not giveing out the bass i want, and i know im only getting about 500-550 rms to each sub. gains are at 90%(bass boost off) as i said it sounds good and all i whould just like to have the gains set lower and more flexabilty at the head unit to play instead of droping my back seat everytime.

i whould be running the amp a ton less it should just be a huge drain on the car if im not mistaken(hifonics dosnt garentee at .5 ohm but alot of people say they run them at .5 all the time and a few say they day to day drive at .5).

gain isnt supposed to be used that way, its to be used to match the preout voltage of your headunit to the input stage of your amp.

the amp is going to be very inefficient (probably less than 70%) and is going to pull alot more current. probably get louder but without electrical upgrades I dont see it happening

Half ohm draws a lot more current than two ohms so make sure your electrical can handle it. If you are running stock electrical I would not recommend it.

depending on your electrical circuit and reactive load it may or may not be able to handle it.

You can try. How big is your factory alternator? If you dont care about your amp than go for it. But most likely you will end up frying the amp at some point or it may go into protect.
