Hotel Charged Me $350 For Damages, Can I Dispute With Visa?

Hey, just looking to show a friend some advice on what we can do in this situation, as I dont think he believe Visa will help him with this.
We stayed at a marriott hotel a few weeks ago, 1 night, 4 guys, 2 beds. Was a cheap room and we pretty much just for sleeping after partying. We checked out just fine, then my bud says he got charged $350 for damages to the room. $250 for smoking in a non smoking room (they found a Colt cigar pack with cigars in it on the floor) and they say $100 for bedframe damages...... kinda hard when we werent smokiing in the room, nor have any fat broads in the bed for bangin

So now we dont know what to do, called the hotel and they took pics of the package of cigarettes they say was ours (they were, but didnt smoke in the room) and I think he might have pics of the bed damage aswell.

Is there anything Visa would do for us for being wrongfully charged like this? My friend seems to think only the HOTEL can reverse the transaction and Visa cannot step in and say it was wrongfully charged, and remove it.

Hopefully looking for a resolution that will involve the least hassle and *****ing. Id like to show my friend this thread so keep it clean please. Hes called the hotel to inquire about it and they say they are sticking by the charges.... but I wasnt the one talking to the hotel, so I dont know how one sided the argument was.

i work for Marriott and can tell you that when someone reverses charges we just turn it over to a collection agency and ruin their credit. On top of ruined credit it ends up costing them at least twice what it would have cost to just pay the fine.
You smoked in our room and you got what you deserved.

I had a hotel room the hotel told me an extra 2 people slept in the room.

It was bullshit.

I called my CC company told them what was up and they reversed the ENTIRE charge for the entire hotel stay.

The CC company works for you. You just have to sound right, confident and demand what you want.

Oh and the person on the other end of the phone has to like you and feel for you or they aint going to do nothing to help.

If you don't get what you want hang up and call back. Write letters do whatever you can.

Finding unburned cigars is not proof of smoking in a room.

They need butts, ashes, burn holes.

Definately fight it.

I worked for a guy JUST doing stuff like this.. Dealing with BS things like this that he had no time for.. In most cases I got him what he wanted.. even some times when I knew he was in the wrong..

I remember one time I wanted to cancel a cellphone a few days after signing up.. well nobody from the company wanted to refund me everything and cancel my bill.... well I got lucky and talked to a nice woman and she went out of her way to write on my account this subscriber can cancel and get a full refund...

well that is freaking unheard of! but I was able to get it.

You have just discovered one of life's little secrets. When dealing with a governmental or corporate bureaucracy, just keep asking for what you want until someone says YES. It's funny how one YES trumps all those nos more often than not:D

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you don't visit here much.
Just FYI, caraudio.com/forum is the place you want to go for CAR AUDIO AND RELATED ADVISE. We are not VISA/MASTERCARD/AMERICAN EXPRESS. Subsequently, we are also not the following: A law firm, a paralegal, a library, a hospital, a school, etc etc.

Calling VISA is where you can get accurate advise and information, and not just hear-say. If you wait long enough to call, VISA may think you're trying to hide something or hoping the hotel will lose the evidence and they won't go to bat for ya.
I disagree completely, the lounge is all of those things.

 
So pretty much Im just going to get him to call today when I go there and deny deny deny everything, because we werent doing it. I do think they mentionned a burn hole though, or my friend did in a weird place that you wouldnt even be smoking. But I dont think there is a pic of that
