Hotel Charged Me $350 For Damages, Can I Dispute With Visa?

Hey, just looking to show a friend some advice on what we can do in this situation, as I dont think he believe Visa will help him with this.

We stayed at a marriott hotel a few weeks ago, 1 night, 4 guys, 2 beds. Was a cheap room and we pretty much just for sleeping after partying. We checked out just fine, then my bud says he got charged $350 for damages to the room. $250 for smoking in a non smoking room (they found a Colt cigar pack with cigars in it on the floor) and they say $100 for bedframe damages...... kinda hard when we werent smokiing in the room, nor have any fat broads in the bed for bangin

So now we dont know what to do, called the hotel and they took pics of the package of cigarettes they say was ours (they were, but didnt smoke in the room) and I think he might have pics of the bed damage aswell.

Is there anything Visa would do for us for being wrongfully charged like this? My friend seems to think only the HOTEL can reverse the transaction and Visa cannot step in and say it was wrongfully charged, and remove it.

Hopefully looking for a resolution that will involve the least hassle and *****ing. Id like to show my friend this thread so keep it clean please. Hes called the hotel to inquire about it and they say they are sticking by the charges.... but I wasnt the one talking to the hotel, so I dont know how one sided the argument was.

Call Visa and dispute it. Explain to them what happened and what the people at the hotel told him also. I had to dispute a charge on my visa once and they took care of it. Someone sold me something, when I received the package it wasn't as they described. I put tape on it, wrote return to sender on the box and dropped it off at the post office. Seller didn't wanna refund my money, Visa disputed it and got my cash back.

perhaps pick up the phone and call VISA? We can say whatever we feel like typing, but VISA will be the only ones to really give you an answer

maybe im wrong and dumb and that is a possibility but wouldnt the smoke alarm have gone off if you were smoking?

Oh yeah Im pretty sure Visa will simply take over and get his money back, but I dont think hes even called them as he may think there will be some penatly or more drama. I just want to insur myself and the group that there actually are options on not just letting a hotel fvck us like this and that its actually worth it to not just pay up

I dont know about the smoke alarms, like I said we really werent in the room long, got there and settled, partied, slept, came home, even cleaned up the room I thought, didnt rememeber leaving a cigar package behind. Regardless, there was no ash in the room, nor any proof that we smoked, so I dont get why the charge was even placed on there.... without consent or prior notice.

Also, the hotel does NOT get the final say on whether or not we pay up for this right? Visa can actually void it all correct?

I just wanna know what visa can do for me before I tell my bud to go ahead and call, kinda so we can go in educated you know

They just can't charge you because they found a pack of cigars or smokes in the room. You could have bought them and smoked outside. Sounds like their tryen to make a quick buck off you guys.

if you call Visa and tell them what happened they will give you the money back.

Actually I bet if you ***** enough to the hotel manager they will reverse the charges.

We'll then the hotel can sue cause you won't pay them and they save picture evidence as you say showing yall fked it up. So take the kid's trailer who almost got burnt down (tappin_azz) and his boyz and go kick the hotel managers a$$.
