Hooking up 5th generation iPod to Alpine CDA-9851

I'm getting ready to purchase everything I need to hook up an iPod to my headunit.

The headunit is Alpine CDA-9851.

I have the newest iPod nano, 5th gen.

I know that I will need the Alpine KCA-420I interface but will I also have to purchase the Alpine KCX-422TR just to charge my iPod?

Is there a way around having to buy all of this? Would I be better off just upgrading the hu to one ipod compatible? If so what do you recommend?
