Well, being the genius i am, i decided to let my friend install my brand new subs and amp for me, and i think he ****ed me over. I have 2 12' kicker comp vr's, 4 ohm final, 800 rms total, and HAD a power acoustic BAMF 1800/2 amp. First off, he ran the power cables the wrong way, and my main fuse in the cable is in the back trunk by the subs, not with 18' of the battery. With some research, i found this was a no-no. can anyone tell me why it would make a difference where the fuse is located on the power cable? and anyway, long story short, my subs worked for 2 days, then one morning i go to start up my car, let it run for a bit (its cold here), and come back, hook up my music, the subs hit 2 times, then stop. I know i turned on the headlights, and they were dim, but im not sure if i turned them on before or after the subs stopped. i think i turned them on before, and then the subs stopped right as i turned them on. he looked at it, and i blew the fuses on the amp, so i replaced them, hooked up the ground, and smoke poured out of the amp. Now im jewed out of my amp. sorry for my rant, im pretty pissed.
But why does the power cable fuse need to be close to the battery?
