Basically title^. I've got a spare 10" sub with a sealed box for it as well as an amp that can push it laying around, and it'd be cool to set it up in my room hooked up to my PC or something. What's the cheapest and most effective way to do this?

I was thinking something along the lines of this: (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4214_Pyramid-PS12KX.html?from=857-141-701)

Would that push a Sony Xplod 800w max 2-channel amp on one of it's channels in 4ohm? (170 watts RMS).

You should probably plug the sub staight into the wall socket first to verify that it can handle the current that the amp would be drawing.

Are you serious? That sounds extremely unsafe, lol.

Lolz. That amp is weak sauce and you could probably use that pyramid power supply without a problem. I do the same thing but I use computer power supplies that provide close to 1000w per amp that I run in the house but I'm using much bigger/better amps. Just remember that your power supply can't run an amp that makes more power than the supply itself (to full potential at least). 16A*12ishV*.85efficiency = 163 watts from the power supply.

I'm scared to try and convert a computer PSU, because I don't want to start a fire or something. But if that was the path I was taking, would this be plenty?Newegg.com - Diablotek PHD Series PHD450 450W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply

Or would even something like this work http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152032? It would never exceed 21A because it wouldn't be 252watts, only like 200 RMS tops.

Nope not unsafe at all actually very entertaining, if you choose this route make sure to make a "short"video of it!
Your not fooling me. You can't put 120v AC directly into a driver that has to go through an amp and a 12v DC current into the amp. Lol.

No kidding you can it's roughly 3700 watts rms@ 4ohms at 55-60hz that's why I said a short video most woofers can't take that very long! but yes it's ac current just like your amp puts out it's direct current that you can't do.

Ah, gotchya. Either way I was being serious lol.

Just buy a Power Amp,Mixer and cables.

I'm being serious too, if you have enough woofers you can raise the ohm load high enough you won't damage the drivers!
thats true if you series them they'll take the outlet power easily, more woofers the safer. haha

@goingdef,

The problem is I have one measily 10" woofer that I want to make use of in my room, not a bunch of woofers.
