Hook Your Door Speakers To An Amp!

I got 2 Kenwood 6x9 speakers & 2 5 1/4 Pioneer speakers a while back in my truck. Just a few days ago I installed those speakers to a 4 ch sony amp. All I can say is wow! Alot More crisp, clear and louder than they were hooked to the headunit. NO more distortion. I got the Sony GT500 HU & if I turn the lower frequencies lower on the custom equalizer(more bass), i swear it sounds like I got an 8" sub or 2 installed. I recommend highly that u amp your speakers. The RMS of the HU is only 17W, the amp is giving the 6x9s about 55-60W each & the rears prolly about 30-35.

yeah I know its common sense to do this, but some people still just leave their speakers hooked to their HU & amp their subs...when maybe just amping your speakers might suit your bass needs & you can save 100s by not buying subs. i might not have bought a sub knowing I can get this loud and clear without one...but too late, i already have a type e & a dual box so i gotta get another one.

there is no substitute for subs. if you're happy w/o though, so be it.

Atleast you found out that a hu should not be used to run off components.

well excuse me LUV2BHATED, not everyone is a pro at car audio and has to learn sometime. You just dont do everything right and perfect the first time with your first system. I've learned alot (im not lucky to have someone teach me everything), i'm learning things as i go. And not everyone has to have 1000s of watts and 1 or 2 15s to be pleased...I love music and dont have to be overwelmed with bass or be heard 10 blocks away to be pleased with my music.

you'll spend alot less money if you read previous threads here. and you'll get flamed less.

its not any fast or easy way here to learn all that you need to know to build the best audio system the first time. I'd have to search and read 100s of threads on here and I still might not know everything. I have not found a be all end all thread on here thats for the car audio noob that isnt overwhelming. You cant just come on here for a day and then be ready to build a perfect system.

look for thread titles, don't read through every thread.

im not mad at anyone, but it just seems that at most forums, if your new and dont know everything that you get flammed or neg feedback when I havent done anything to warrant that. All i was saying is if you aint hooked your speakers to an amp, do so, you'll be greatly pleased with the outcome. This post isnt pointed at kcdc30, he was just joking and not flaming imo, but when luv2bhated said i was gonna get flammed...its bound to happen if I deserve it or not...lol

Thanks for the tip.

The majority already know but we'll be happy that you found out for yourself if you like. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

And we found out that you don't actually read the things you're replying to because nowhere in the opening post would lead one to believe there is a set of components anywhere in this particular equation.

Good job!

there are no speakers in my doors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I would explain but I'm too lazy and not in a giving mood.
He's here to learn and he asked a good question. Don't worry about the assholes that flame, someone will come along and help.

I will help tomorrow, just not now.
He wasn't asking for help but more just posting an informational sort of thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

When the same nonsensical posts get posted over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (do you begin to get the point?) and over and ov...

Those of us who consider ourselves veterans to the hobby to some degree grow very weary of seeing it constantly when more than a few of said posts are simple common sense issues, things that could be solved on one's own with a very minimal amount of reading, or just outright ignorant statements/questions/arguments/whatever.

Not all total newbs will get flamed. But I'll agree quite a few of them do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Well....

keep in mind that most people don't know what a sub is supposed to sound like

a cheap, low excursion, high fs sub, or really any sub that's packed into a smallish sealed or high-tuned prefab enclosure isn't going to be performing as a true subwoofer, anyways

so, while i will agree that there's no substitute for a true 20-50/60 hz substage, you have to remember most people's subwoofer paradigm is not actually a subwoofer in it's true sense, and can CERTAINLY be produced by a properly installed/powered component set

so congrats to the OP on stepping up to an externally amplified component setup, but rather than being satisfied without subwoofers, i STRONGLY encourage you to keep reading on this thread for advice, and finding and installing a TRUE substage, and then you'll know what it's all about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
