hook up problems

Let's talk '99 JVC KD - S640 in-dash cd/am-fm receiver...I've got one with no idea why it won't work...it's got juice but it won't stay powered up & I get no sound when anything I'm about to describe happens...I can get it to take a cd & eject it(the antenna goes up & back down in the process) & I can get the display to flash on for a moment by hitting the display button(again antenna up & back down)...WTF am I not getting on this...it's in a '97 Nissan Altima & yes the antenna wire is one of the ground points in the Altima's set up...please help...I'm lost on this install...a friend gave it to me when she totalled her call but I don think that is the problem...please help...system in distress...

Okay I got the problem figured out on my own...the ground wire just wasn't strong enough on the Altima...even though it also had a supplemental ground from the antenna...& if that isn't f'ed up I don't know what is...
