hey all, i had a thread about this but lost the old one..

so i just got the sony STRDE197 stereo receiver which says 8-16 ohm load on the back, this receiver can wire up 4 speakers in total - 2 left and, 2 right...

the speakers i have are the theathre research TR-2830 4-8ohm load, i have 2 speakers(1left,1right) but each speaker has 4 inputs - 2 neg, 2 pos... how should i wire these guys up that will give me the most power and wont blow anything up? shold i connect all 4 input on each speaker to the receiver? or just 2?

they sound like full range speakers to me, i.e. there is a midbass in there and a sub, or a midbass and a tweeter...was there no external crossover that came with the speakers?

external crossover which is the 2 metal peices that connects the pos and neg together on the 4outputs? so there are 2 metal peices for each speaker. those metal peices are hooked up right now, touching all 4outputs but with using only 1 pos and 1 neg wire.

so is it playing at 8 ohms right now? i was thinkin maybe i shuold exchange this to a 4 ohm receiver so i can get the most watts to my speakers? what do you guys think?

i kinda forgot about this audio stuff.. the lower ohm the more power correct? or is that for only car amplifiers? well anyways i think if i bridged the A speakers with the B speakers id get 200 watts instead of 100 correct? and if i did this what ohm load would it be loading at?

They are Bi-ampable.

They are also junk.

what does bi ampable mean? that i can bridge it?

i actualy got them for free so it cant be a rip off lol.. just had to get an receiver
