who knows what i am
what would you people think about above.

would be 100watts total 50x2

true tube amp. size would be 8"w x 12"l x 6"d

size would be due to fans and heat sinks.

can have it made for me but not sure if i would want it.

was looking for some input on what you people think.

thanks for all the input

will talk to him about larger ones later on

Ummm...50 watts for a tube amp is certainly possible. Probably push/pull, running KT88's or 6550's or some big mother beam tetrode in ultralinear mode. 50wpc in SET would be insane, yes. I know only of a handful of those around. But in PP it's not that unreasonable.

Ask him the details of the design. Whether it's push pull or single-ended. What tubes he plans to use. What brand of transformers he's going to use - in tube amps, the transformers often are the most expensive part of the entire thing.

Also, you have to know that a tube amp will work best if you match the speakers to it...so I hope you're willing to invest in some relatively high efficiency speakers.

!!! 50W ?! you sure about that? 6L6 PP?

probably right, some type of big power tetrode in a Push-Pull setup. say hello to some lethal voltages too...

That's the statement that gets me wondering...I can count on a hand the number of greater than 50 watt tube amps out there, push pull or single-ended! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I mean, big transmitting tubes like 845's can reach insane power levels, but my entire system costs less than one of those.

You simply don't need that much power.

This is the world of hollow-state...heh...any one of these things can kill you. My Decware SE84CS had 350+VDC on the plates. And that was 2wpc! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
