i just recently decided to buy 4Swiss Audio Spl-1291 subwoofers, these are dual 4 ohm voice coils, i know i can wire these subs so they run at 2 ohms, but is there any way i could wire them so they ran at one ohm? i havent purchase the amps to power these yet because i wasnt sure how i should wire them?

My other stupid question is, i was gonna buy the orion 1200.1 amp, this puts out 1200 watts at one ohm, would it be possible to buy two of these amps to power all four of my subs? It is a mono amplifier so im not sure if i can run two subs off it? im like brand new to car audio by the way...

eric

two orion 1200d's to push those four subs would work jsut fine...

jsut wire each pair to one ohm and go!

as to the wiring 4 dvc4 subs to one ohm, nope....4 dvc4 subs can be ran at 2 ohm and .5ohm....

you can buy two smaller amps and run two subs off each, so you can run each amp at 1 ohm.

Otherwise, your stuck with a 2 ohm load. or a 1/2 ohm load if you can find an amp to do that.

Not by themselves you can't (meaning a single dual-4 ohm sub can't be wired to a 1 ohm load)

It's possible to run any number of subs off of a monoblock amplifier provided that the final resistance load presented to the amplifier isn't lower than the unit is designed to operate at safely. (and that the amp's output will power the drivers properly....ergo, you might can achieve a proper nominal impedence for a given amplifier with 20 speakers wired however they need to be wired but odds are the amp won't be capable of driving all 20 speakers well ~ too little power going to each one)

Here's the wiring helper I have saved to my favorites. Pretty handy page.

Hope this helps somewhat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good luck with your tunes!

i fu can keep ur voltage up, u can run a orion 2500d at .5ohm....

i do it daily...

so what ur saying is that even though the awiss audio website say it i can run those subs at .5 ohm? or is that just like ohms related to amps. so if i buy an amp that can put anywere from 500-600 watts at .5ohms into four subs, i should get it? and if i can does anyone have a suggestion for which amp to get cause this is wicked confusing...

also i know this is gonna sound retarded but how come when i look in car audio magazines and they take pictures of a guys subwoofers and they upside down? were down all the bass go to? and what happened to having to a box for it? like they just dont need a box or are those like special subwoofers?

A sub's impedence is decided by its design/build and nothing else. Any given dual-4 Ohm sub by itself can be wired to a 2 Ohm load or an 8 Ohm load. Period.

I don't know of any amps that are stable at a .5 Ohm load that ouputs only 5-600 watts. Generally amps that will safely operate at that low of a resistance load are pretty serious pieces of equipment and are designed to produce gobs of power to drive pretty serious subwoofers (or several not-so-serious subs)

If you've already purchased the Swiss Audio subs mentioned previously (or have at least made a concrete decision to do so) what you'll want to do is figure out the total amount of power you need for all the subs you plan to run. Using the reference page I gave you the link for above figure out what final resistance load(s) you can create with your subs' voice coil configuration. Then by appropriate amplification for that power need/voice coil setup.

I'm not enough of an expert to answer that. Outside of looks I do not know what benefits might be achieved by inverting a sub on the face of its enclosure. Someone else will have to answer that for ya, dude. Sorry...

inverting = for looks only...

there is still a box there....

thank you very very much, i have it figured out, i am going to wire them into a 2ohm load, and send each of the four with 500watts RMS. Thank you sooo much for your help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

also im concrete on getting Swiss Audio subwoofers but i have a nother wuick question would it sound weird if i got two 12's and 2 10's or should i stick to all one size?
