this is what someone said at realmofexcursion

But yeah dont go EA to many problems with them, he doesnt bench test his Alts to see how much they actually produce. He builds them based on guesses, he gueses on the amount of amps the Alt will produce at high rpms. HE basically says hmmm with this part it should produce 200 amps at 2500 rpm when it might not even do 100 because he doesnt bench them. If you want a reliable alt go with Dominick Iraggi or Ohio Generator who does bench their Alts. Inaddition some of the people who got in on the group buy received DOA alts and some recieved alts that couldnt even charge higher than 12V when even the stock alt can charge at 14.4V. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

I seem to be having a problem with mine too. It reads like 12.30 volts at idle is that normal or should i be sending it back?
No you probably only need a smaller pulley. Remember, they kick on at 800 - 900 rpm, so if your car idles a little lower then that, put a smaller pulley so it kicks on at idle.

I did the same thing with the one on my suburban, it idles at around 600 rpm, so I swapped pulleys and problem solved //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Isnt that like a band-aid though? I mean my stock alt charged at idle.

Last bump. Hopefully this will at least dispel/confirm the information people give about HO alternators. Thanks for the input.

So as of right now here's where it all stands.

EA: 29 votes, 59% failure/DOA

HO Alternators: 9 votes, 56% failure/DOA

Other/Local: 8 votes, 50% failure

Ohio Gen: 5 votes, 40% failure/DOA
