installed the ppi pc2350. now running that with the xtant 4004a. i was going to wait 'til spring for the new alt.,but when setting the gains on my amp it was pegging the indash volt guage almost to the bottom. i'm almost positive that the amp can't be properly adjust do to this. i wanted to see how it would push the subs, so i got on the freeway and pushed up to 85mph. as i played it loud for around 1 or 2 minutes, the components started to sound like static. sounded awesome for 2 minutes though. long story short. i need an alternator before spring i think. the one i have now is 100 amps i think. the amp rating on my ppi is 150 and i'm not sure about the xtant, i would guess around 50. doing the math it looks like i need a 300 amp alternator or do i need more headroom than that.

i was going to do that with a new alternator. the dimming wasn't this big of a problem with the viper d1200.1 as the ppi. if i don't put in a new alternator within the next couple of days i'll just do it. i had a piece of 0/1 guage left over, so i used it to ground the battery before i lost it somewhere. the other 2 were going to wait, but now it looks like priority. i think i am going to need a bigger alt. though anyways because of future plans. i'm putting a power inverter in the back under the cap for some 120 volt things, which will cause some questions by me later when i actually get into doing the work. x batteries, isolators and so on.

ive got a soundstream pca 2000d and stock alt and a evertstart maxx, so pretty much no elec upgrades and the only time i get bad dimmage has whne im at idle for a fews secs with heavy bass, you might wanna check your grounds to make sure the power is getting back to your battery i kno i had a bad groud to the amp and i fixed it and that helped alot

i did check the grounds and they are good. i'm still loud but my sub amp and my component amp are both class a/b and far underrated. the xtant is 400 underrated and the ppi is 1400 underrated. it seems that the class a/b's are far more power hungry. the viper d1200.1 was class d and ran ok on stock. the ppi was stuck in the same place as the viper with the same wiring (0/1 to the distro and 2 guage to the amp), the wiring was checked twice and it's fine. the ppi is just really power hungry i think. i'll see what happens after the big 3 is done. i know i will need a larger alternator, if not for the amps, for some other things in the future.
