heh.
Hello everyone. I thought I would ask a few questions and get some educated answers from the people here at CarAudio.com.
1.) Do I need a HO Alternator?
- At the moment, inside of my car I have a RE 35.1d powering a RE SE 15. It's rated 800wRMS at 2ohms, i believe. Stock rear speakers for the time being. Soon (within a week) I'll be adding a JL 300/2 and also a set of DSL UR6's. I experiance a little bit of dimming, but I know this will only get worse when I install the JL 300/2. I have big 3 done correctly with 0 gauge wiring and i have 0 gauge to a fused distro to 4 gauge for my amplifiers. Also have a volt meter, the electrical barely dips down past 12.5v. Car is a 1995 toyota camry with stock ~80amp alternator. Battery is stock, as well.
2.) Where can I get a HO alternator?
- I've read a few sounddomain pages that say that people can get other Toyota alternators into their Camry, but in pictures it does not resemble my alternator. I would like to know what size I need, as well as how much it would cost. I am looking for at least 150amps, but 200 would be nice to leave room for possible upgrades.
Soon I will be upgrading the SE to an XXX and the load will be 1 ohm, ~1500wRMS.
Possible upgrades consists of adding a second XXX and a second RE 35.1d.
Let's see what we think.
Thank you very much.
Brian
