HO Alternator problems

wow EA sucks glad I havent bought mine yet. No wonder I got a quote from EA for 300 for a 225 adn 465 for a 200 for iraggi. Anyone got a mean green what kinda price do they run for?

mean-green makes great alts. usually $369 + shipping for a 200 amp. its not like prices are listed on their site or something

i was only running a hifonics bxi2006d, and had 3 batteries

i too had a factory bosch 120, and it was fine, but i broke it doing the big-3

i wasn't even planning on doing a bigger alty

Yea, i do have the same issue with my EA HO Alt. But it runs well. 12v-12.4 at idle and than ~15 at 1000-1500rpm. I talked to Nate and he just told me to turn the screw, so the idle will rise. I did not do that yet.

Talk to Dom @ Iraggi, i heard for a small fee you can get your EA HO alt rebuilt by them.

i highly recommend having someone else rebuild his alt. he failed 3 times to fix my alt so i took it to a shop and it has been working fine now. not too mention he lied to me on when he would return my alt.

I have an ohio gen alt in my car... at idle it only puts out about 13v... but the second it hits 1000rpms there is no stopping it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif 14.3-14.6 all day long.

Also what is this screw you guys are talking about? external regulator?

God im glad I shelled out the money for a good alt. Personally I would be pissed if my alt did 12v at idle. Local guy built my alt. 14.7 @ idle, and 14.7 @ 2k. Its a 250 amp HO alt, and tested at about 270. I paid a bunch, but At least I get my voltage.

glad my EA works fine. after hearing everyone stories guess i was lucky. i hear alot about all alt companies though dunno whats up with that market

Yeah I am not sure what to do. Nate told me to turn my idle up to to get the Alt to turn on. I was sitting in a drive through line at Subway today, put the car in park, and pressed on the accelerator to see when the alt kicked on. Of course the air gets stronger when the alt is working at 14+ volts. Needless to say, it had my engine reving higher then I would ever want my car to idle at. Not only would I be wasting a lot of gas, But its also kinda loud. You know how those little foriegn 4cly's are lol.

I still feel I was mislead, in being told I would get 100 amps at idle. He never said I would have to turn up my idle to get it to work. Therefore I kind of think I should be able to return it for a refund.
