Hmmm...confusion...help please?

The cap isn't going to hurt him. I know a lot of people hate caps now, it's just the latest fad to hate them after you used to get points for them. I don't think they are useful for big bass systems, if you wanted to know my opinion.. but anyway. ...
.. are those amps 800W RMS or peak? if that's peak, I'd go minimum of 4 .. if that's 1600W RMS, then 2 or 0. I'm almost thinking that's not going to solve your problem, though.
It isn't going to hurt him, but at the same time it isn't helping.

Sean, what battery are you running, what size alternator? Your first step should be beef up your wire to 4ga minimum, then do the big 3 and see if that helps. If not it may be new battery time.

well...about my battery...its a tad embarrassing, but it's a NeverStart...it was in the car...the alternator is stock, those were the next two things i was going to upgrade, i only just got the subs in the car monday

Well you're on the right track. Beef up your current wire, Big 3, Battery, Bigger Alt, and I would try to get a better grounding point made as well. After that you should be set...at least until you decide to go bigger, which we all do eventually

ah yes...we all do eventually go bigger...i guess tomorrow i will pull the power cable out to measure it and figure out how much cable i need to order, then i will look for a battery. so you guys are sayin the cap is pointless? it makes it look a little better so i'll keep it but...oh well

i'll probably ditch it for more amp room on the rack(by rack i mean mdf scrap they're attached to). so the problems have nothing to do with the amps or subs then? just powa issues?

That would be my guess, big voltage drops putting it into protect. If, after you do some of the upgrades suggested and it doesn't fix the problem, than at least you already have them done for the next amp. But I would put money on voltage drops @ the amp.

alright, next project...Operation: 1/0...i'll take some pictures of the enclosure, i think it looks pretty sweet, i'm proud of it anyway, it's always nice to get feedback, and positive ones on your first try....lol

Make sure when you order your 1/0 wire to pick up extra wire and terminals and go ahead and do the big 3 while you're at it.
