Other way around, strength is irreverent becaues you can increase thickness or durometer of either. Rubber is much more durable - Foam genearlly falls apart in about 10 years give or take, but its also susceptibility to UV damage, water damage and if its not soft enough it will just plain tear after enough use. There are generally two different kinds of foam used for surrounds, one is better against UV and the other is better against cracking, but rubber is better than both at both. The advantage of foam is its just plain lighter, so you'll get about a 1dB or so better sensitivity switch out the material so you're get better performance with foam.Foam last longer than rubber supposedly. Hard to say which is actually stronger. Depends on the type of foam and rubber really.
I'm also positive no woofers in production use rubberized foam. The foam you see on the woofers around here are all the same stuff, probably polyurethane. Its less durable than rubber under sunlight, but yet, evtaully the sun will wear out everything if you want to think of it like that. Rubberized foam is a very specialized and expensive material that i believe only Bridgestone makes or Dupont. Either way, it has some issues with forming I believe which makes its hard to work with (not positive on that)Rubber dries out and cracks in less than 10 years....hence why they say not to run tires over 6 years old from date of manufacture....apples to oranges. Rubber is succeptable to UV as well. And I do believe that the foam is actually a rubberized foam, to get the best characteristics of both.
