High quality single din cd player Alpine CDA-9887 or Alpine Cd117???

Hello everyone,

Looking for a single din cd player with the best sound and zero bit muting... I've located two if you can provide some feedback I would greatly appreciate it! If you have a suggestion for a different superior unit please lmk. Budget $400 street price.

Both are nice units. With that being said, the CDA-9887 will give you more tuning flexibility. The CDA-117's x-overs are very simple & only high pass, no choice as to their slope either. If you use a newer iPod/iPhone, the 9887 will require an adapter to charge it. The 117 will take the ipod's information in the digital domain & use its own DAC, the 9887 won't do this.

Like I said, both are nice units. I own both actually. Just depends on how much tweaking you want to do.

Thanks I have a audio control dqx so I think the 117 will do... How about any other units with zero muting? Not been up on the stereo scene for a while

Not sure...I've been a liitle out of it myself too. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I actually just went back to Eclipse, just put in a CD8455. I have a CD7000 in my closet too.

Just swapped my 9887 out for an Eclipse CD7200MKii, however. Gonna miss that bish.

Is there a reason you need zero bit muting? You're the first person I've ever seen requesting that feature.
