Hey guys, I need help.
I've booted up WinISD and I'm trying to choose between two different subwoofers. The first is the Dayton Audio RSS39OHO-4 15" and the second is the Dayton Audio RSS390HF-4 15". After inputting the T/S params and specifying sealed box sizes that will work for my car, I've come up with this graph.
The yellow line is the HF and the orange line is the HO. The yellow line looks worse, but is actually about 3db higher on the SPL graph, causing the graphs to converge at 31.2 Hz. Also, the box for the yellow sub results in a Qtc of 1.40 and the orange sub/enclosure results in a Qtc of .67.
Here's my question: Will the yellow sub sound too boomy? I've heard that a high Qtc will sound boomy and uncontrolled (Idk though, because the only way to lower the Qtc of this sub is to use a bigger box, which I was always told was boomier.) I plan to x-over the sub at about 60Hz (the yellow peak is about 70Hz) and my car's cabin gain begins at 50.1 Hz (theoretically) which matches well with the F3 of the yellow box.
I guess I just want the yellow sub for the extra 3db, but I don't want it to sound like crap.
