High Output At Idle?

get an alt that will work with the smaller pully or make sure it works good with the stock one. that is where dealing with a good builder comes in instead of buying from MAX specs........best way also to take advantage of a hi output alt is adding a second battery gives less voltage drop to the rear by the amps and gives you more capacity. when you do get an alt to put out alot of power though at low rpm it will still stress it to where it wont last 100k miles more than likely like a stock alt would or could but the flip side a stock alt would get chewed up faster if the load is large enough.

i heard that you change it to a smaller pulley..but that makes the alt die faster..
Nah, of course it depends on how "small" of a pulley you'll buy, but almost anything you find to increase output 15-20% will be absolutely fine. You just want to make sure that if you have a smaller pulley, you aren't pushing your RPM's constantly very high, say above 6K.
