High Output Alternator my A$$

Well a month back or so i bought a H.O Alt for my 98 mustang. And lately i have been having problems with my volatge droping like a son of a ***** so i took my car to O'rileys because i thought my battery under my hood was dead because i havent replaced that yet and i get there and its fine then we test my Alt and its only putting out 30AMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! when its a 200amp alternator.

So what exactly might have happened to make my alt go bad so after i get it fixed it doesnt happen again

hahaha they are hit or miss seems like you might be missing for a bit you know the saying you get what you pay for and in these kind of things it holds very true..

i bought it off CA for 130... im just going to have my local alternator shop rebuild it i think... are they able to make it bigger than 200 amp

Hmmm I would never buy a HO used, but yeah they are hit or miss, from what Ive been told on here. I've had mine a little over 9 months and I haven't had any trouble

Hmm.. I was going to purchase that alt that you bought too.. Was it putting out full power when you first got it?

they might be able too best chance is to ask them and see what they an do make sure they know you want decent amps at idle also

And get it tested at autozone or some type of shop to make sure. Plenty of people by alternators and just install, but then get pissed when it doesn't work or something. Just a word of caution, BTW Dbeez That message was f*cking funny, first time I seen it lol

it was a new alt when i bought it at least thats what he said and i have only had it in for a month or 2 and it was working fine but then somthing happened i guess to make it F up

Have u checked ur belt to make sure its tight?

I did not even know you could have a shop up the amps on an alternator. hmmmmmmmm

130 for a new alternator is too cheap IMO, that shouldve been a sign there. Just get it rebuilt if it don't cost much. But they come with a year warrenty.
