With respect to the high-end head units out there, what kind of sonic character is generally associated with each?
Color, character... what I am referring to is brightness, softness, etc. Sure, speaker choice has a far greater effect than electronics, but a cd player can make a significant contribution, as well. I have read that Eclipse, for example, tend to be bright relative to some other players. Simply tossing out a question and looking for feedback. Thanks for being constructive (as opposed to the other childish remarks).Well, the perfect deck would reproduce audio with no character, or 'color,' which is I think the term you're reaching for.
I have heard(about a bazillion times) that alpines sound "brighter" than eclipse. That has been my experience as well. Ofcourse, some people like that "brighter" sound....I am not one of them, however.Color, character... what I am referring to is brightness, softness, etc. Sure, speaker choice has a far greater effect than electronics, but a cd player can make a significant contribution, as well. Thanks, JL. I have an opportunity to buy a new-in-box Denford 8240 (plat1000; not the 2000). I understand that the pre-out voltage is only 2v versus 5v for the 8250. Any thoughts on how an 8240 would stand up in comparison to an 8250? Care to put a price tag on an 8240, anyone?
