Hifonics Titan into protect??

I'm trying to troubleshoot for my nephew who lives 3000 miles away and has little car audio knowledge. He's sent me picutres and everything looks like it's wired correctly. I'm trying to bridge 2 of the 4 channels to drive a single voice coil 4 ohm sub. I've tried Channel 1+ & Channel 2- the first time and that would put the amp into protect at moderate to high volumes. I then tried 3+ & 4- as the bridge and the same thing happened.

The amp is rated to be bridged and works fine if the sub is plugged into just one (unbridged) channel. The only setting that I'm not too sure about is the Output Switch can be set to 2 channel or 4 channel.

Any ideas why it would go into protect?

The manual is no help.

The sub is a 4 ohm single voice coil. The other channels aren't hooked up yet so the sub is currently the only thing hooked up. Eventually I will use two channels to power the front speakers and I wanted to bridge the other two to power the sub.

Does seem odd that it would not take 4 ohm load bridged. Most amplifiers do that without any problem. Maybe you need to get a ohmeter and verify the resistance of the voicecoil. If it has dropped signifigantly below 4 ohms, like 3.0 ohms or less then you may have trouble with that subs coil going out on you in the future.

Otherwise, if it is close to 4 ohm then you may have some problem with the protection circuit of the amplifier.
