Hifonics - The Truth

just a thought but maybe you shouldnt have 1600 watts on that wire. and get some bigger fuses that are appropriate for the amp and it wont pop
Agreed. That's why I have everything turned down at the moment. The thread was based on the Hifonics being overrated rather than whether I should risk burning my POS down for a few db's.

I think if you had the right wire and fuseing you would have had a better experenice with the hifonics. And If you aske me the only good Soundstream amp is the XXX line.

Umm, no. 3db is twice as loud. Please stop giving advice.
if you had some type if knowledge about what your doing i'd believe you but a difference of 3db is not twice as loud.. its 10db 140-143 =/= holy ish thats twice as loud your supposed to gain 3b from doubling cone area or power but thats already been stated here

Again, you're wrong. Perception of twice as loud is around 10db, but that is and can't be scientifically proven.

Doubling of the volume (loudness) should be felt by a level difference of 10 dB − psychoacousticians say. Doubling the sound pressure (voltage) level corresponds to a measured level change of 6 dB.

Doubling of acoustic power (sound intensity) level corresponds to a measured level change of 3 dB.

Schoshe 4ga is really only about 8ga...and hell no it cant handle 150 amps
Its actually not. I had it in my car and I switched to some Stinger 4 Gauge Custom Pro and they were the exact same size. The Scosche 4 Gauge is actually labeled 5 gauge so either Stinger makes shitty wire or Scosche's wire size is right.

the hifonics would have done better with a proper electrical setup. they have been proven to do rated power at 14 volts. and before you say anything, yes i have tested them and yes they did rated

Even if it is legit 4ga...i believe 4ga is only rated to handle 80-100amps?
Im pretty sure its CCA, but I couldnt tell. I think my Stinger 4 gauge is rated for 140a or 150a. Im sure the Scosche is rated a bit less, but not much. Should have still been able to handle 1200 watts or so.

I highly doubt that. Everyone knows a BD1001 is a highly under rated amp. Most did 1200-1400 no way in hell does the 1208d do 1400 unless your running a solid 16v and you cant tune the RF right.

no way its louder/stronger than a bd....

but as to the wiring, im running somewhere around 1100rms or so on Memphis 4ga. I dont know what its rated, but i know its some of the thickest and highest strand count of 4ga that ive seen. Its fine on 1100 tho
